Lutron lighting control
Lutron, from first
drawing to handover.
Porter Systems has designed, installed and programmed Lutron systems since 2012. We cover the full residential range, and look after every stage: lighting design, control design, programming, commissioning and long-term support.

01 / Lutron systems
The right platform
for the property.
Lutron offers several residential systems. The right one depends on the scale of the project, whether walls are open and how much integration you need. We recommend one, and explain why.
Lutron HomeWorks
Lutron’s flagship whole-home system, for new builds and major refurbishments. We have worked with every generation, from Illumination to QSX.
RadioRA 3 & RA2 Select
Wireless control for existing homes. Lutron dimmers, keypads and remotes without chasing walls or rewiring.
Lutron shading
Motorised blinds and curtains designed with the lighting, so light and shade are controlled together.
| HomeWorks QSX | RadioRA 3 | |
|---|---|---|
| Best suited to | New builds and major refurbishments | Renovations, apartments and period properties |
| Installation | Wired and wireless devices, with centrally panelled dimming where required | Wireless devices that replace existing switches, with minimal disruption |
| Typical scale | Large homes and estates with extensive lighting and shading | A single room up to a whole house |
| Integration | Control4, AV, heating and other building systems | Control4, voice assistants and smart home platforms |
02 / Lighting design
Design the light,
then the control.
Good control can’t rescue a poor lighting scheme. We start with how each space will be used: layers of ambient, task and accent light, the circuits needed to separate them, and the scenes that bring them together.
From there we resolve the control design: load schedules, dimming matched to the fittings, keypad positions and engraving, and the infrastructure the system needs. It is all agreed before first fix, so the electrical installation goes in right first time.
- Lighting layouts & circuiting
- Load schedules & panel design
- Dimmer and fitting compatibility
- Keypad specification & engraving
- Scene & timeclock design
- Coordination with your site team
03 / How we work
One specialist,
every stage.
Lighting & control design
Layouts, circuits, keypad schedules and a clear specification, coordinated with the architect, interior designer and electrician.
The right equipment
We supply the Lutron equipment for the project, checked against the design and the fittings it will control.
Programming & commissioning
Scenes, keypads, timeclocks and integration built, tested on site and refined with you.
Handover & aftercare
A clear explanation of the system, then changes, updates and support as the way you use the house evolves.
04 / Questions
Lutron questions,
answered.
Do you only work on new builds?
No. HomeWorks suits new builds and major refurbishments, while RadioRA 3 is designed for existing homes where rewiring isn’t practical. We also support and upgrade Lutron systems that are already installed.
Can you take over a Lutron system someone else installed?
Yes. Where the original installer is no longer available, we survey the installation, recover or rebuild the programming and take on the ongoing support. More on Lutron support.
Do you work with our electrician or main contractor?
Yes. We can provide the design and programming while your electrician installs, or deliver the Lutron installation ourselves. Either way, we coordinate directly with the site team.
Can Lutron work with Control4, heating or AV?
Yes. We plan integration with Control4 and other systems during design, so it works reliably from day one. More on integration.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based in Woking and work across Surrey and London. For larger projects further afield, please get in touch.
